What is Ayuda Aquí?

A Signal of Solidarity and Community

Ayuda Aquí was created to help you find assistance in times of trouble.

When you see the Ayuda Aquí signal, it means the person displaying it has chosen to identify as an ally to the immigrant community. They want to offer support, perhaps even assistance.

Help can mean different things. It might mean a safe place to make a phone call. It might mean help finding food, shelter, or medical care. It might mean help contacting a trusted organization or lawyer.

Each person who decides to help by displaying the Ayuda Aquí signal chooses for themselves what they can offer. You decide if you want help. You decide what kind of help you ask for.

People who display the Ayuda Aquí signal are volunteers. Ayuda Aquí is a signal meant to offer connection. It helps to look ahead. Keep an eye out for the signal in your neighborhood and along your daily routes, so you know where help might be before you need it.

You Choose What Happens Next—Move at Your Own Pace

Ayuda Aquí initiates a natural human connection. Trust must be earned by both parties.

The people who display the signal are ordinary people. They  are not officials, and they are not trained or vetted by Ayuda Aquí. Because of that, it's important to move at your own pace. Anyone you approach will be someone you don't know. If you know someone you trust who has less to risk, ask them to approach first.

You are always in control. If something doesn't feel right, you can step away. You never have to share personal information.

Your safety comes first. Only accept help that feels right to you.

Ayuda Aquí cannot promise outcomes. Ayuda Aquí does not replace professional services. At AyudaAqui.org, you can find links to many organizations across the country working on behalf of immigrants and immigrant communities. Some of these organizations receive support from the sale of Ayuda Aquí merchandise.

Ayuda Aquí means: Help is here — if you want it.
